May this year bring new joy, new goals, new achievements and new inspirations in your life. Wishing you a year filled with happiness!”

I want to begin our first column of 2014 by thanking everyone who has responded so generously to our annual appeal. For those who have not yet given, please know it’s never too late to support the Hollywood Senior Center. I hope that you will give what you can today, so the Hollywood Senior Center can continue the same high level of services and programs we offer to you and the neighboring community.

Many of us make “New Year’s Resolutions” this time of year. Do you want to eat better and exercise more? Do you want to reconnect with old friends or make new friends? Maybe you are interested in taking up a new hobby or spending more time doing a current one? The Hollywood Senior Center may be just the place for you to act on your 2014 resolutions! As an organization, we make New Year’s Resolutions (or goals) for the coming year too including:

- Expand our outreach and services to ethnic and minority elders through community partnerships and culturally sensitive outreach efforts.

-Expand our development efforts to ensure adequate & stable funding to support our key programs and services despite the continually diminished public resources we receive and the growing need for assistance.

-Expand our outreach efforts to raise our visibility in the community to build a broad public awareness of the needs and personal opportunities to support senior services with a focus on North Portland.

-Continue to assess and determine the needs of participants and clients and to provide programs and services that address those needs.

The ongoing support of individuals makes our “New Year’s Resolutions” a reality! We look forward to seeing you in the coming year! -Amber
